Melcore Auto Transport is a licensed property broker. We do not own trucks — we select and dispatch independent motor carriers on your behalf. Choosing well is the entire job, so this is how we do it.
Before a carrier moves anything for us
Every carrier we dispatch is checked against the following, and no vehicle is assigned until all of it is satisfied:
- Active federal operating authority. We verify the carrier’s USDOT and MC numbers against FMCSA records and confirm the authority is active for property transport — not pending, revoked or inactive.
- Cargo insurance in force. We obtain a certificate of insurance and check that it is current and issued by a real underwriter. We expect at least $100,000 of cargo coverage, and more for enclosed and high-value moves.
- Liability insurance in force, at the federally required minimum or above.
- Safety record. We review the carrier’s FMCSA safety profile, including inspection and out-of-service history. A carrier rated Unsatisfactory is not dispatched.
- Equipment suited to the vehicle — open or enclosed, and the right deck position and winch capability for anything inoperable, oversized, lowered or unusually valuable.
- Identity. We confirm we are dealing with the carrier of record, not an unauthorized re-broker using someone else’s numbers.
Checked again at dispatch, not once a year
Authority lapses and insurance expires, sometimes between one load and the next. We re-verify authority and insurance at the time of each dispatch, so the check that matters is the one made on the day your vehicle moves — not one made when the carrier first joined a list.
What we tell you
Once your carrier is assigned we give you the company name, its USDOT number, and the driver’s contact details. You can look that carrier up yourself on the FMCSA’s public register, and we encourage it. On request we will send you the carrier’s certificate of insurance before pickup.
Before you release your vehicle, confirm the driver and truck match the details we sent. If anything does not match, do not release the vehicle — call us on (737) 773-3111.
What this does not mean
Vetting reduces risk; it does not remove it, and we want to be straight about that. The carrier is an independent company. It — not us — has custody of your vehicle from pickup to delivery, and it and its insurer are responsible for loss or damage in transit. We do not insure your vehicle and we cannot pay a carrier’s claim. How claims work is set out in our Terms, sections 13 and 14.
Carriers we stop using
We remove a carrier from rotation for lapsed authority or insurance, a pattern of damage claims, repeated missed pickups, poor communication with customers, or any attempt to collect money beyond the agreed balance at delivery. If a carrier we dispatched treated you badly, tell us at info@melcoreautotransport.com — it changes who we use.
